The State of Qatar Affirms Palestine Remains the Central Cause for the Arab and Islamic Nation

The State of Qatar affirmed that the Palestinian cause will remain the central issue of the Arab and Islamic nation and all honorable people in the world, and renewed its supportive and steadfast stance towards the Palestinian people and their just cause.

The State of Qatar also stressed that it will spare no effort in working to alleviate the difficulties faced by the Palestinian people until they recover all their inalienable legitimate rights.

This came in the speech read by the advisor at the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General Rashed Al Suwaidi during a general discussion of the UN Human Rights Council on the condition of human rights in Palestine and other Arab occupied lands.

He expressed the State of Qatar's strong condemnation of the escalation in hostilities by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their property, which saw them demolish and burn houses of worship. The statement also condemned Israel (as the occupation) for continuing to expand its settlement plans, in a clear violation of international law. The statement stressed that these plans were the biggest obstacles to achieving a fair and comprehensive peace that is based on a two-state solution.

The State of Qatar also affirmed the importance for people to have equal rights, led by their right to defend their land. The statement called on the international community to assume its responsibility legally and morally to protect Palestinians and end the occupation of all Arab land, end settlement activity, and resolve the refugee issue in a fair manner in line with UN General Assembly resolution no. 194 for 1948. It also called for guaranteeing Palestinians enjoy all their rights, led by the right to self determination and establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of 1967 with East Al Quds as the capital.
