Qatar Affirms Importance of Giving All Human Rights Same Attention

The State of Qatar has affirmed the importance of giving attention and focus to all human rights, including the right to development, and treating them on an equal footing within the framework of objective dialogue and constructive positive cooperation, which takes into account the principle of the universality of human rights, its synergy, interdependence, and reinforcement of each other.
This came in the statement of the State of Qatar delivered today by the Third Secretary in the Department of International Organizations Abdullah Khalid Al Ghanim Al Maadeed before the 49th session of the Human Rights Council, during the general debate under agenda item (10) of the council's agenda.
Al Maadeed said that the many challenges facing the world today, especially those resulting from health pandemics, climate changes, and armed conflicts, showed that providing technical assistance and capacity-building to countries in the field of human rights, according to their needs and priorities, and in consultation with them, are important elements to enable them to confront these challenges and fulfill their obligations to promote and protect human rights.
He affirmed the importance of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the international community continuing to provide the necessary support and technical assistance to Afghanistan at this delicate and difficult period in the country's history, in line with its needs and priorities to enable it to face challenges and difficulties, particularly human rights issues, improve economic and humanitarian conditions, and maintain the achievements made by the Afghan people over the past decades, especially respecting women's rights and girls' education because of their essential role in achieving peace and development.
