In his statement at the general debate on the Oral Update by the High Commissioner under the Item 2, HE Ambassador Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri thanked the High Commissioner for her updated affirming his confidence in the ability and competence of the High Commissioner to lead her Office towards optimal implementation of its mandate.

HE added that he had hoped that the High Commissioner’s update would address the human rights violations caused by the blockade imposed on the State of Qatar since 5 June 2017, pointing out that the Quartet’s violations were reflected in the report of the OHCHR technical mission in November 2017. HE seized that opportunity to urge the OHCHR and the relevant mechanisms of the Human Rights Council to take all measures that would put an end to the continued violations contained in the report.  

While expressing his support for the statement made by the High Commissioner that political differences could lead to divisions among some countries and that upholding   human rights was in the interest of all State, HE the Ambassador urged the blockading States to come to the negotiating table and end the human rights violations committed in the context of the Gulf crisis, which affected a large number of individuals and families.
