H.E Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar in Geneva delivered a statement at the 39th Session of the HRC under item 9 on racism and racial discrimination

In His statement at the 39th  Session of the HRC under item 9 on racism and racial discrimination, HE Ali Khalfan Al-Mansouri, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva, underlined that the decision of the ICJ dated  23 July 2018 following Qatar's lawsuit against the UAE regarding the violation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, reaffirmed the racist and discriminatory violations of human rights by the blockading countries under the coercive measures they imposed on the State of Qatar on 5 June 2017.
H.E the ambassador noted that the decision of the ICJ was based on the report of the OHCHR TECHNICAL MISSION TO THE STATE OF QATAR / November 2017 on the impact of the Gulf Crisis on human rights which concluded that the measures taken by the Quartet against the State of Qatar were broad and targeting individuals on the basis of their Qatari nationality or their links with the State of Qatar and were thus qualified as discriminatory.
