Qatar Stresses Importance of Promoting Values of Equality and Tolerance, Rejecting Intolerance and Racism

HE underlined that the current session of the Human Rights Council came two years after the blockade and the unilateral coercive and discriminatory measures imposed by some countries of the region on the State of Qatar and its citizens since June 5, 2017, calling on Human Rights Council and its relevant mechanisms to act effectively and take the necessary action to stop human rights violations resulting from these measures and hold those responsible accountable.





United Nations Hails Qatar's Continued Support for Humanitarian Response

The State of Qatar’s reprsentative noted that Qatar's foreign assistance for the period from 2013 to 2017 amounted to QR23 billion ($6.3 billion) and included more than 140 countries in partnership with the United Nations and many international and regional organizations, thus becoming the seventh major donor to OCHA. He also noted that the State of Qatar will chair the OCHA Donor Support Group next year.



Qatar stresses the need to hold those responsible for human rights violations against journalists accountable

The State of Qatar affirmed having taken note of the report of the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions submitted to the Council in document entitled "Investigation into the unlawful death of Mr. Jamal Khashoggi" and its annex, adding that Qatar reiterates its support for the recommendations contained in the documents, and stresses the importance of protecting journalists from all violations of their rights, primarily the right to life, physical integrity and the right to freedom of opinion and expression.
